UAE and Malaysia discuss strengthening economic and trade ties

In order to develop stronger trade and investment links, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, met with Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry for Malaysia, in Abu Dhabi. A delegation of top trade officials from Malaysia visited the UAE, and the meeting was a part of that trip.

Al Zeyoudi praised the two nations' solid relations during the meetings and emphasised the UAE's commitment to enhancing commercial cooperation and creating opportunities for both countries' business communities.

The UAE and Malaysia are negotiating a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which was announced during H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi's, visit to Kuala Lumpur in May 2023. The negotiations for this agreement were also discussed by the two parties.

The first meeting between the two trade ministers occurred earlier this month in Jakarta at the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit, underscoring the growing ties between the UAE and Malaysia and the larger ASEAN bloc. This is the second meeting between the two trade ministers since CEPA discussions started.
