UAE, Qatar discuss enhancing parliamentary cooperation

A meeting between two parliamentary leaders from the UAE and Qatar. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, who is important in the UAE parliament, met with Hassan Al-Ghanim, who is important in Qatar's parliament. They met at another meeting with parliaments from Arab countries in Algeria. They discussed how to improve cooperation between the parliaments of the UAE and Qatar. They said the two countries have a good relationship and need to work together on parliamentary issues.

This meeting is important because the UAE and Qatar fixed their relationship in recent years. They did not get along from 2017 to 2021 but now work together again. Improving how the parliaments cooperate shows they want cooperation at all levels of government. Sharing groups and agreeing on issues in the region will bring the parliaments closer. It shows both sides want to work together in new ways.

The meeting happened during the important Arab parliament meeting. This gave them a private place to discuss cooperation between the UAE and Qatar specifically. But talking publicly about improving ties means they may cooperate more openly going forward instead of just privately. This could help make the improved politics and economy between the countries stronger.

By stressing the depth of the relationship and need to consult, the sides said their goal is long-term cooperation between the parliaments not just short term working together. Meeting often and agreeing on regional issues will be important to make cooperation between the parliaments part of how they work in future years. This meeting seems to mark the start of closer cooperation between the Qatari and UAE parliamentary bodies.
