United Arab Emirates Joins UNESCO's ISSN Network

The United Arab Emirates has joined an important network of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO. This network is called the ISSN Network ISSN stands for International Standard Serial Number.

The ISSN Network helps to identify and catalogue periodical publications like magazines journals and newspapers from all over the world When a country joins this network it means their periodical publications will also get ISSN numbers This helps readers and libraries to easily find and access these publications.

Getting an ISSN number is important for any publication It helps the publication in getting listed in catalogues and databases This makes the publication more discoverable The ISSN number does not change even if the title or publisher of the publication changes So it provides permanence.

By joining the ISSN network the UAE wants to provide ISSN numbers to the periodical publications produced in the country This will help promote these UAE publications globally Researchers and readers worldwide will be able to trace and access important information published in UAE journals and magazines.

It is a positive step by the UAE government. As a member of the ISSN network they can now provide permanent identifiers to their publications This will make UAE periodical content more accessible to international audiences It shows UAE commitment to spread knowledge and join global initiatives of UNESCO.
