Sheikh Mohamed Calls for Ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon

 


UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen about the concerning situations in Gaza and Lebanon. He stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians according to international law. Only a ceasefire can allow unimpeded delivery of vital humanitarian aid to suffering people. Both leaders agreed all efforts must prevent further escalation of conflicts threatening regional security. They support a just and lasting peace through the two-state solution. 


Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed UAE's commitment to work with international partners towards de escalation in the Middle East. The phone call also explored ways to boost strategic cooperation between UAE and EU. Mutual support for providing relief and preserving strong ties were highlighted. Officials welcomed joint cooperation across diverse areas like trade and investment.


The discussion reflected UAE consistent humanitarian position and role in trying to resolve conflicts diplomatically. It aims for civilian protection and fulfillment of basic needs amid crises. Sheikh Mohamed and Ms. Von der Leyen concurred on shared priorities of stability, development and human well-being.

  Recently Premier Li Qiang of China visited the United Arab Emirates UAE to discuss ways to deepen trade ties between the two countries.
