Shehbaz Sharif Praises UAE's Support for Pakistan's IMF Program Completion
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has credited the UAE for its crucial support that enabled Pakistan to complete its International Monetary Fund IMF program. Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad to mark the UAE's National Day, Sharif acknowledged the UAE's unwavering support for Pakistan during this challenging period.
Sharif praised the UAE's long-standing friendship with Pakistan, highlighting the significant contributions the UAE has made to Pakistan's health, education, and infrastructure sectors. He recognized the remarkable progress and prosperity achieved by the UAE under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was a great friend of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the UAE has set an example of development and prosperity, and that the close ties between Pakistan and the UAE continue to thrive. He reaffirmed Pakistan's support for the UAE's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and expressed eagerness for the upcoming visit of the UAE President to Pakistan.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari also spoke at the occasion. He appreciated the marvelous growth of the UAE and welcomed the UAE business community to invest in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has remained a close friend to the UAE and expressed his gratitude for support during difficult times.
On another occasion, Prime Minister Sharif met with the Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council, Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, and his delegation. He highlighted the close bonds between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, referring to his numerous visits to the Kingdom during this year as a testimony of the close relations between both countries.
Sharif welcomed the support Saudi Arabia extended during difficult times. He further said that two recent agreements with Saudi Arabia, amounting to $2.8 billion, are very promising, and its benefits will be very apparent shortly. He also mentioned that Pakistani diaspora is 2.5 million in Saudi Arabia and can play an important role between both the countries.
