UAE and Partners Host High-Level Humanitarian Conference for Sudan

 


On February 14, 2025, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ethiopia, the African Union (AU), and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) convened a significant humanitarian conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The "High-Level Humanitarian Conference for the People of Sudan" aimed to address the pressing needs arising from the ongoing crisis in Sudan.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali inaugurated the conference, emphasizing the urgency of collaborative efforts to alleviate the humanitarian challenges faced by the Sudanese people. He highlighted the importance of regional solidarity and the collective responsibility of neighboring nations in providing support during such critical times.

Representing the UAE, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, reaffirmed the nation's commitment to humanitarian principles. She underscored the UAE's dedication to working alongside international partners to deliver essential aid and support to those affected by the Sudanese crisis.

The conference brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from various countries, international organizations, and humanitarian agencies. Discussions centered on mobilizing resources, coordinating relief efforts, and developing sustainable solutions to address both immediate and long-term needs of the affected populations.
